98 Ls1 Catch Can Install Help
98 has the pcv valve between the 2nd and 3rd fuel injector. The pipe from the intake to the valve is either metal or hard plastic and looks like 1 piece.
In my eyes, do i have to cut the one piece tubing in 2 places and remove the smooth elbow in the pipe and then run rubber hose with worm clamps from pvc side to can and then can to cut pipe just before manifold?
Is this pipe 1 piece to the manifold? Is there a connector at the manifold that separates from the pipe im talking about? I tried pulling it out of the manifold but i was scared to break it so I didnt pull too hard.
Am i making sense? Can someone shine some light on this please?
I have the Norris catch can with no pcv. If i remove all the lines, how would i connect to the manifold? Is there a nipple that sticks out to connect once the old is removed or will there be a gapping whole.
Mine was a 98, has 243 heads now. Also save the hard plastic lines and re use them for easier hose routing.
Edit: I also saved and reused the pcv valve holder for extra ease of maintenance.
I will leave everything behind my pcv valve alone. Change the pcv valve and run 3/8 fuel line to my catch can and then tubing from can to manifold. Should work fine, I don't notice my car burning much oil as it is setup right now.
I was thinking of trying out wrapping my can in exhaust wrap to keep it a little cooler if I have time to burn.

taking the foam off of the pcv lines and replacing the softer parts. It's not all plastic if I remember correctly and mine were rotted pretty bad. I used silicone runs of hose to fill in where the old soft hoses were. There was a piece from the drivers valve cover to the corner of the intake on the passenger side, then there's a 90° plastic tube, then another small run of silicone hose, then the pcv holder, then silicone hose to my catch can. I think I remember cutting the plastic pieces to fit my setup, and painting them black so they didn't stick out. I only re used the plastic pieces so that they would clip onto the intake via those plastic clips and keep everything nice and tucked close to the intake.
