Damn, mine just came on too! My coolant is full too. I guess I'll unplug it.

But my 98 has a working ECT sensor

My coolant level sensor is dead, too. Just like others have done, I disconnected it and I check the level manually.

I had the Low Coolant Level light come on today and upon inspection , the coolant level was fine. I cleaned off the metal rod on the sensor with a Q-tip and the light turned off. Lucky me. Thanks to those who posted about this quick fix.

I used C.L.R. (Calcium Lime Rust) cleaner on my sensor, worked great. Bought car used, light came on soon after, it's been off for over 2 years now. I believe there was a wire retainer holding the sensor in?

Mine came on last week. It is not "on all the time." What I mean to say is, after I start the car it takes about 5 to 10 minutes before it comes on. IS that the same problem the rest of you are having, or is your light on from the moment you start your car?

Thanks. Bob

I fixed mine, wasnt the sensor , rarely is from what i hear I got a huge funnel and placed in radiator started car and let it get hot and a couple heat cycles (fans kicking in ) and made sure it was topped off if any air trapped in system makes that sensor trigger , but mine would come on after 10 mins or so since i did that trick with big funnel to let it boil into have had zero issues

Mine comes on at startup when the car is cold. If I get to a stoplight when I am up to temp and turn the car off and on, the light doesn't come on. Also, if I drive on the freeway, with the light off, it will suddenly turn on after about 50 minutes of driving. GM could have designed this headache better.

Thanks. But I'm not sure I really understand what you did.

1) removed cap and placed large funnel in radiator

2) started car and allowed to hear up

3) topped off level in radiator with car running

4) removed funnel and replaced cap

That's it?

My '99 Z is doin the exact same thing. I would like this 'big funnel' trick explained a little better. I'd like to try it.

on the passenger side of the radiator a couple of incles below the radiator cap. There is a wire clip that you have to remove to remove the sensor. no big deal.
