coolant level -- sensor info. coolant level -- sensor info.
ok... on my dash i get the low coolant light.... i know that the coolant is fine... and that its just that stupid sensor...
i have the waterpump out and a few other things ....
i was looking at the sensor.. i want to take it out and clean it and see if that works... i am trying to avoid having to buy a new one..
does anyone know how it comes off... it pulled it a bit and tried to look in there.. but i just dont want to break it..
anyone?

I have had the same problem. Is there dried coolant on it? That was the problem with mine. I ended up cleaning it and fixing it, but I guess it wasnt good enough. The light is on, but my temps and coolant levels are fine. I just left it alone and check it every nwo and then.
I have the same problem with mine, it's a f-body thing, happens to a lot of them. My buddy has a '95 383 Z28 and his coolant light has been on for a year or more, stupid sensor, I wish we could just turn it off via LT1/LS1 edit.

You don't need LT1/LS1 edit to turn off that light. All you have to do is disconnect the plug from the sensor. It will now think the coolant is always full.

yeah but leaving it disconnected will never tell you if its actually full or not! specially when some of us lazy people forget to check

If you are really **** about it replace the sensor. My car and a friend of mine's both have our light on... The are both '98s mine a camaro his a firebird. I have learned to ignore it. I think the part is like 30 bucks or so from GM. I know my coolant is good and my coolant tank is ok so I just don't worry about it. This is a very common thing on 4th gens. over 4 years old or so.
damn man your car must be mines sister!!!! that very same thing happened to me on the way home from work this morning..i was thinking damn it i know my coolants full,my car has been in the garage for a month...oh well see if i can clean and or replace it..
well my low coolant light came on, when i first got the car, out of no where, checked the fluid it was fine, next day waited till the car was cold and the fluid was low, filled it up, no light since.

Do the tape mod...remove the gauge cluster and use black electrical tape, tape over where the light shines through, no more light... 
no need to buy a new sensor that will do the same thing again soon anyway!

You do not need to buy a new sensor. You do not need to remove the light bulbs in the gauge cluster. You do not need to do the 'Tape mod'. To get the light from ever coming on again, all you need to do is reach down by the sensor and unplug the wire connector going to it. Violla!!! The light is off. The only tricky thing there is, you no longer have a light come on if you are low in coolant. You won't have these either with the tape mod or removing the light bulb. Unplugging the sensor costs $0 and takes 30 seconds. Your only other option is spending $30 to replace the sensor every time it goes out.
