Default intake foam

hey all, just got a used ls6 manifold and noticed the "foam" underneath(see pic)

isn't there, is it necessary and where/what would I use? Thanks.
EDIT, this is a generic pic, not mine. intake I just bought the foam is missing.

What do you mean where/what should you use?

Not %100 necessary but does protect the knock sensors from grime and water.

you are using new intake gaskets .......they come with new foam ( at least the fel pro ones do ) old gaskets are flatter than a 10 yr old girls chest.....and worthless

If you are looking for something to add, Heatshield Products makes a thermal insulator that can be placed under the manifold.
