I have read of test results for ported heads that flow 370, flowing 345 with the Rick Crawford Radius Rod LS3 intake. If the tweaked LS3 intake only cuts ~25 cfm that is absolutely amazing given a stock LS3 with easily cut ~50 cfm.
I am eager to get RC RR LS3 tested. I want to hear how the RR intake "sounds" on the flow bench.
My inner mad scientist is toying with the idea of asking Mr. Crawford if a Radius Rod LS6 or TBSS is possible...you know one with a TPIS 90mm snout and radically ported. It's tempting to get a wooden dowel and mock up for flow bench testing.
I wonder the RR only works with a rectangular intake port?
Jim do you have additional insight on the RR you can share?

Sorry Wade, I've never inquired on whether the radius rods would help with OE cathedral manifolds; I'll inquire with Rick. Here's a couple of other links on the RCR:
A comment from Bo White:
"The rods make a short turn in the intake into a longer turn so airflow doesn't shear as bad trying to make the turn. Anytime you have air contact seperation it makes the airflow turbulent so anytime you can make transitions in the airflow path easier to transition airflow increases. "
From Axis:
"Think of it like a velocity stack bar. It smooths the transition of air from the plenum to the runner."
I have an Excel workbook with before/after testing. I tested street acceleration with stock LS3 and RCR version, using HPTuners scanner. Most of the gain (.4s) came above 90MPH.
Found my pre-intake tune dated 11/30/13 11:59AM, and a post-intake WOT tune dated 11/30/13 4:34PM. At WOT, I needed to add 1-3% fuel in the Primary VE 100kPa row above 3600RPM.
Flow Test Data for Rick Crawford Radius Rod modified LS3 Intake
The RC RR LS3 intake tested has been on Jim Muller's car since about 2011-2012. Jim pulled the manifold cleaned it, then shipped it to Rick Crawford to ensure everything was in order. Rick replaced an epoxy seal in the floor of the intake and shipped it to me.
I planned to test Darth 's BBK on a cathedral head and another cathedral intake on a LPE GMPP head along with the RC RR LS3 on the Reher-Morrison LS3 head.
Then an unexpected twist occurred : Sports Car Club of America and the Indianapolis Speeds decide to change and relax qualifying for this year's main event. Suddenly every racer in the area needed last minute tweaks to their car. The Fast dependable shop I use for testing suddenly became buried in last minute work.
That combined with R&D for development of a less than 260 cc port that flows ~400 cfm for a hard core customer kept them from being able to do the intake test as quickly as desired.
In short with Jim's patience, me heading to ship at 5 am this morning and the shop owner coming in early just for this test we have some interesting data to share with the community!
Getting ready to base line the head to ensure results are accurate.
The Reher-Morrison LS3 head was rechecked with the same conditions as prior tests. The results were with in 1-2 cfm of the prior tests.
The forth column medium blue color one is the Rick Crawford Radius Rod modified LS3 Intake.
Note the Rick Crawford Radius Rod modified LS3 Intake 30cfm better than a stock LS3 and roughly flows within 5-10 cfm of my VR ported Fast LSXR LS3 intake!!!
The TAxis getting the 416 at Norris Motorsports this week. In a couple of weeks I plan to pull my old LS6 manifold and test it along with Darth ' s BBK and maybe one other cathedral intake.
The ported WS6 STORE Dorman LS2 intake arrived today. Should have some pictures up tomorrow. The port work is sweet looking! I'm in process of getting testing scheduled. Darth's BBK will also get tested. My TA's old LS6 may too.
