Advice on ls1 5.7

Default Advice on ls1 5.7

Hi all

I am new on LS engines .
I have an ls1 5.7 l taken of Caprice 2003 .
I have a 243 heads that is not Installed.
I have a double springs lunati.
And the cam which has alot of number 130451/13047 hr113+2 w7065-11 that I don't know what does it mean .
what else I need to get 500 whp....If possible .

As I said I am new to LS ...I need any single Advice

Hi Shareef,

Welcome to the LS world! Good to have you on the forum! lS is a wonderful engine.

Hopefully the moderator will move this to internal engine and you will get a lot more replies.

500 at wheels is doable but demanding with out a power adder line nos or forced induction.

This thread has a 'recipe' for 500+ at wheels.

Those numbers describe the cam. The first number is wrong, but it will be a part number for the intake lobe. Comp Cams has their master catalog available online to look them up and match the cam you have.

The second number means it has an Xtreme Marine exhaust lobe; 235 degrees @ .050" and .359" lobe lift.

HR means it's for a hydraulic roller lifter and 113+2 means the cam is ground with a 113 LSA and 2 degrees advanced.

thats a great explanation,
will read more about it, to get the proper mill of my 243 heads,
will post a picture of the cam .....hope that will help to get info about the intake
