Engine Wiring Harness

First of all I am new to the LS world and I will probably say a few things wrong and label some stuff wrong as well. However I am here to learn. I plan on swapping an LS engine into my car, but I need wiring harness clarification. Panic Wire makes a custom wiring harness for my car to work with an "LS1 (first gen)" (not sure what that defines). I'm wanting to know if this would work with the LS vortec engine out of a Chevy 1500 or do they have different adapter and plug ins? Would I need a fully custom wiring harness just for that for that?
