Default Melling oil pump

Anyone installed a Melling oil pump on their LS1? If so what color o-ring did you use? I put one on my 02 TA and used the recommended o-ring, now the damn engine is ticking again.

Is the o-ring supposed to be put on the pickup tube, then pump and tube put together? I thought the assembly instructions said to put it on the pump side. If I damaged the ring during installation I would think it would cause issues immediately, not weeks later. Do i need to replace with the same size o-ring or one that is thicker?

I must have put it on the pump side instead of the tube side causing it to not seat correctly. Where did you but the replacement o-ring?

X2

Oil up the O ring slide it on the pick up tube insert pickup tube in the oil pump as straight as possible.

What color O ring was on your original pick up tube / oil pump combo ?

Was blue. The new pump came with black and green. I used the green one (incorrectly).

I would pull it back down and check the O ring for problems. Either pinched or too loose. Throw a blue one in there while its all apart. The pick up tube is what determines the O ring.
