sell it before installing it and buy a FAST 102.

it's real advice, and you asked for it.

The FAST 102 would have been my first choice but just a little out of my budget right now. Lol

yeah, i hear you, they are still kind of pricey. a lot of guys don't want to bother.

stinks that the next best thing ends up having these kinds of issues, though. spend 850 on a manifold you can just bolt on and make power with, or port and even make more power with, or spend 300-400 on a manifold you have to fix almost right off the bat, unless you are content with it performing only just as good an OEM piece.

maybe i am just a little salty with dorman. i've seen my share of products that come out and have had a lot of hype and fans, but guess what, it needs work from the start to make it fit, or work.

heck, even the 102 was like that on my LS1. My LS2 was a cake-walk bolt-on affair.

just a little aggravating sometimes. you pay good money for something, you should just expect the thing to work. you should only expect to hack up or modify OEM parts that you pull out of a junk yard.

i dunno. maybe i should be glad. elbow grease and dremel and i guess you have a decent intake for less than half the price of a fast, and not even the same runner volume...

i'll just shut up and stop looking at these threads now.

The Dorman runs like an OEM piece because it is a service replacement for an OEM piece. It was never meant to be anything but that. It's just that some of Dorman's manifolds just HAPPEN to run better than the OEM piece. Sometimes ya get lucky....

except it doesn't. remember the dyno where the dorman ls6 did worse than the factory ls6?

and, to quote dr_wingham,

The lower is INDEED from Comp. They have an agreement in place. That's why you see the Revision J as well as the U.S. Patent #. It's shared and licensed to Dorman.

The top is different though, obviously.

The way this came about was Mike had a friend who he was visiting with, and at the time, working on his LS1. He was talking about how the LS6 intake was treated like gold used, and how nice it would be to have a cost effective alternative...

Took a long time to develop, but here it is, the finished product.

Mike was absolutely SHOCKED it only took 2 weeks for this to be discovered (the Revision J and the patent #), as that's as long as it's been out on the market.

It is vibration welded, but he said a quick once over with a Dremel and it EASILY comes apart. You can RTV Ultra Black it back together.

According to him you'll be impressed with the product you receive for the price you pay.

There's an LS2 90mm version in the works, about another 2 months.

That's what I know boys.
i'm still waiting to be impressed. i've held one of these intakes in my hands and took pictures, and it is junk, i'm not going to hold back my opinion anymore because there's folks on here that have hoped and prayed for a cheap "performance" intake.

The LS2 dorman only outperforms the OEM LS2 because the OEM LS2 is such a steam pile from the factory. You want to compare the LS2 dorman to what it should be? it should be like the 90mm TPIS intake. I am sure it isn't.
