Default Anyone else have problems with Dorman LS2 intake?

Visible pinched seal on second manifold
2nd manifold
1st manifold
Received two manifolds with this "defect". I still want one, just not a busted one. Unless this is OK?

They all look that way. Their outers (top, snout) are sonic welded to the upper and fast lower. The o-rings get smooshed in the process, but don't serve a purpose at this point because they're sonic welded on the outside of the manifold - remember, it isn't a 3 piece, but still uses the FAST lower that has the o-rings on it. Just an oddity of the dorman intakes. You can hit the o-rings porting the runners too, but it doesn't really matter.

So, basically the "sloppy manufacture" appearance is of no consequence?

I could live with the O-rings for that reason, but each of them look like the snout is broken and leaves a terrible transition to the lower.

This rev J im porting looks good, but with so many processes going on, its no wonder the seal gets tangled etc.
Yes, the manifold is sonically welded so really no "need" for the seal in most places honestly. When im completely done, ill post all the pics in a thread. We transition the tb opening, open it up, then epoxy it to make a smoother transition and better flow there.
The intake def needs a professional touch.

Correct. It's just the nature of sonic welding their upper to a lower that was designed with orings, but doesn't end up using them in the application. Like in the ported pics above, they're simply ugly and don't effect anything.

If you are really concerned about smooth flow you could smooth it out with epoxy, providing it works on nylon.

I returned the first one I got through Amazon but it was because where the runners meet, the top and bottom were not smooth. The bottom piece was sticking out and filing it would have probably made a hole.

Just my opinion, but this is a really lousy implimentation.

Other than the relatively low cost, i simply don't understand why people are going bonkers over these.

Looking for real insite and first hand knowledge, not some rambling peeps looking for attention. I ported my intake and looking for any real advice before actually installing it.

I got one hoping it would be a nice little budget performance intake but it was so cheaply made and ill fitting I sent it back. I would not trust one to stay together to be honest with you.
