1 7/8 long tubes, high compression and starters?
I know I'm not the only one with this combo so please let me know what you guys are using for a starter.
did a search and it seems quite a few kept the stock unit as their starter though there was some mention about cleaning the terminals and whatnot....or running a highervoltage battery. You sure your starter isnt just on its way out?

I didn't have very good results when I searched. Thanks for sending that link... The starter seems to work fine it's just turning the engine over a bit slower than I would like. I guess it's worth noting that I have relocated the battery to the rear so I'm dealing with longer cables which doesn't help. Also worth noting is that I'm having a backfire through the throttle body so even if the car was turning over faster I think it still wouldn't start.
Backfiring through the TB sounds like a timing/ tuning issue. Not sure the phase of your build might could point you in the right direction with a bit more info though as I had a hell of a time getting my 414 to fire off the first go around.
I have another thread with a wiring issue I have/had. I cut a bunch of wires that were coming from the BCM that I thought I didn't need (race car). Well, turns out I needed them! After that the car wouldn't do anything, no dome light, no dash lights nothing. I have since reconnected most of them and have spark, fuel and compression so I thought I was good. I really feel it has something to do with that to be honest.
