Default Hooker ORY....my thoughts...

I bought the uncoated Hooker ORY for my Jet Hot headers. Here is my thoughts/opinions....

When it arrived, the box was beat up (UPS)...where the Y goes into the I was dinged...it looked D-shaped, but that was easily fixed.

Putting it on was not as easy as I thought, but after I was done, it turned out great. Everything fit really well and very tight. The drivers side pipe was close to the floor, but after some fiddling, I have about 1" of room now. I also installed a poly motor mount and have had NO banging at all.

Overall, I will give the Hooker ORY (uncoated) a B. For $165 shipped, it was the easiest and cheapest I could find....and it does fit well, look good, and my personal opinion is it sounds nice. Some people dont like rasp, and this Y is raspy, I like it...the rasp is controllable, except at WOT

The clamps they supply are ****, but other than that, it cant be beat.

Question

You didn't have to bang the floorboard in at all to get it to fit, I'm getting the same exact set up (except my Hooker Y is coated) and just assumed I'd have to do some custom mallot work (aka: BFH).

Thanks a lot dude, if I'd based my decisions solely on just how badly you've 'bashed' these headers/Y pipe all over the boards I would have never bought them from you! Maybe I should just get QTPs as well?

I suggest a poly engine mount.

The driver's side pipe was close...real close, but with some prying and tightening, I have plenty of clearance. When you get it, take the little piece of the y and test fit it...then "massage" it before you put it all together...you may get a little better clearance that way too.

It wont just install itself, but for $165 I dont think it can be beat. Well, not my perticular y pipe anyway

from some of the pics i've seen of ory pipes i see that they do not have a place for a solid hanger. When i was running my ory pipe before i went to duals, i had a shop make me two hangers, one on the driver side at the bend, and the other at teh stock location. Using rubber and the hangers, it worked wonders for the y pipe banging. and the spots it did still touch every now and then i used the good ol' bfh mod and very slightly tapped the floor board, this was near the heat sheilds under the car. I DID get a little bit more interior noise but nothing worth bitching about.

btw **** clamps, i'd weld it in or buy nice stainless steal ones anyways.
Good luck with the install. safe driving!
