Looking for additional engine temperature sensor location
I currently have two temperature sensors threaded into the tapped holes in the heads of my LS1 engine.
Passenger side towards the rear and drivers side near the front.
One is for the LS1 ECU and the other is for the instrument panel idiot light.
My intention is to add an actual temperature gauge and would like information as to a good location for the sensor to get an accurate reading on the engine coolant temperature.
I either need to tee into one of the current tapped holes or (preferably) to have a third tapped hole in either the head or block.
Thanks for any help.

Does anybody have a diagram or pictures showing the location of any tapped openings in the block that would work?
The engine is in the car and I don't see any with a quick inspection.

Go to a junkyard and look over any LS engine for the hole you desire. It might be a lot easier.

Couple easy options, T the coolant crossover line going from the top of the radiator to the front of the cylinder heads, another is 98 models had 3 pin sensors to run the PCM and the inside gauge? Maybe you could adapt one to work in your setup?
