Default Is this the wrong pilot bearing

Little bit of story. This is a 2005 5.3. the clutch kit is for a 04-06 gto. is this pilot bearing the wrong size for the 5.3?

The bearing is shedding metal as I hammer it in. Like its to big

Don't know if the bearing is right or not. If it's not fitting correctly, pull it out and run a brake cylinder hone in there before going any further.

Is that drivin in the crank all the way?? There really isn't a right /wrong pilot so to speak. If it fits on the input shaft and seats into the crank then its right.

If you want to know something then you must post all the information. 2005 5.3 from what? There are many types of pilot bearings/bushings. What is the depth to the welch plug? Did the 5.3 have an automatic transmission?

There are 2 styles of pilot bearings. The one you use will depend on the transmission you're using.

Two different pilot bearings for LS engines:

The one you use depends upon the size of the transmission's input shaft.
