Default Intake routing?

Hey folks i am looking to change my intake location. I have an ls1 swapped s10 and my intake is currently sitting on-top of my upper radiator hose and is pulling up to 145 degrees of intake air temp. That seems like a bit much. I want to rout it to the passenger side and stash it down in the engine bay under the headlight. I don't run fender wells but i also only drive to and from the track and on dry days to car shows. A few questions have come up. Where do i need to have my MAF? And does any one recommend a kit or a company that might be able to piece one together to get my intake where i want it?

If it will help, the MAF should be in a straight section with about 6" before and preferably the same after the MAF to ensure good flow direction.

On my 1992 i have the hummer 6.0 aftermarket intake which puts the intake outlet over by the passenger fender. It is a good distance from the radiator hose. I thin k if you look at my avatar you can see it.

I just bought a silverado "cold air" intake kit on eBay for my LS6 swapped 2000 Hombre, looks like it will go the right direction for what you're trying to do. $46 shipped, hasn't showed up yet but I expect it will work.

Your avatar is tiny, haha there isn't any way i know of to make it larger. Mind posting a picture maybe a link to the one you bought.

It's eBay, search Silverado cold air intake and sort lowest to highest lol! Got most of it installed:

I will say, the huge filter they provided won't fit without cutting length. Still trying to decide whether I'll run a MAF or not, so I haven't cut it yet. But that's with a shorter filter and a truck MAF, the truck MAF outlet being in a 3.75" reducer if I recall correctly. Not sure about that, I carried it over from my previous arrangement, a straight pipe.

See, now I would have thought carbon steel and duct tape would have done it...

It can actually cost less to find a kit that fits. Also, since he asked, pretty sure he can't fab by welding aluminum tube and doesn't have silicone couplers laying around.

Well good thing there are a shitload of websites to buy prebent aluminum and or silicone couplers from...don’t be a jackass.

OP has a custom swapped LS S10. Clearly he should be mechanical and can conjure up a couple of worm clamps with prebent aluminum/silicone hoses to put a filter where he wants it.

How many custom ls swapped s10s do you have? I offered a suggestion, and showed how it fit. In an "s10". So as phenomenally enlightening your suggestion of "make one out of aluminum" was, I believe my suggestion was a bit more relevant.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed huh? Get yourself a cup of coffee and simma down.

You suggested an ebay intake, I suggested building a custom one for a custom engine swapped build. I don't see how one is right or wrong.

Have a nice day!

I got it put in i used a 24" Long 4" Aluminum pipe i cut 4" off one end and 6" Off the other to get it where i wanted it. I also wrapped it in some fiberglass heat wrap Clamped it all together with some clamps and silicon couplers. Now i am trying to figure out what to do with my IAT sensor. O see people just putting them near the end of there intake. Any thoughts on that.

You can drill a hole in the intake tube on the bottom (to hide it) and install it there. You want the sensor reading air temp relatively close to what is going into the motor as to not confuse it.
