K&N oil filters
K&N oil filters Put me in the camp that didnt believe all the rumors about them. I thought the stories were isolated incidents. Truck started leaking about a week ago and today I went to change oil and just letting it warm up it made a huge puddle. Crawled up under it and its leaking like a ****. Leaking around the gasket AND the damn nut they weld on there is leaking!

Mine leaked when hand tightened, so very gently tightened using nut, but it needed more force than I was comfortable with. First time in 45 years I've had an issue with an oil filter, so won't use K@N again.

I wonder if they switched manufacturers lately. The big brand names eventually sell out on quality once they get top-down pressure from money hungry execs and/or brand acquisitions. Because of its age (1964) and with the original founders out, I could easily see K&N falling into this cycle. Looks like their current CEO has only had his seat since 2015. Purely speculation, though.

Had one on my Z28, started leaking at the seal, replaced it, 2nd one leaked. Switched over to WIX. Tried them again on my new at the time '15 Equinox, it started leaking at the seal too. I'm DONE with K&N oil filters after years of using them. Their quality has diminished greatly IMO over what they were a few years ago. Using WIX on my Z28 and back to the stock AC Delco on my Equinox and my leaky filter problems are gone...
Use Wix...
K&N I used on my Nissan VQ35 and it raised the oil pressure like 15psi throughout the range... I don't know if it does it on the LS motors. But I've always used ACDelco or Wix on the LS motors.
