Default Seal Up A/C System During Disassembly

What do you guys use to keep the A/C system closed off and free of moisture while it's disassembled. I'm planning on pulling the heater box over winter and want to keep the system sealed up.

Plastic plugs is what I use at the shop. They need to fit really tight though because temp changes will cause the air to expand and create some pressure and pop them out. So check them frequently.

Put your compressor and any parts you can in the house to keep them in a climate/humidity controlled environment and plug them.

Worst case scenario you can flush the evap core before using it again and run a 30-45 minute vacuum on the system to remove any moisture/solvent.

If you had an old line assembly that you could cut the pipes and put a piece of hose on and loop the pipes together, that would be best. Put hose clamps on the hoses and then you would have the seals still on the line assembly and the lines sealed. But it would look like crap.

I used to use those when I was at the dealer too, but not having any now, where would I get ahold of those? I'm not aware of those being something I can buy at any of the parts stores. I've seen guys use small balloons in the past but always wondered if that really worked that well or not.

I would check Amazon, of all places. It never fails to amaze me what I find there!

took me a second to figure out what to call them. Found them on ebay, search for "tapered plastic cap" or "tapered plastic plug"
