Default for those of you that have used lash caps.....

this is my first time measuring.....

i bought nascar 799s that i was told were unmilled, but need to run lash caps for the titanium valves. i measured the int and exh valve on the same cyl and the checker came back 7.259 int and 7.267 exh. so adding the .050 preload for my morel 5315s, that gets me to a needing a rod of 7.313. (measured the checker with a caliper, and averaged the rod lengths)

my question is, do lash caps tend to alter the rod length on a stock head? the member i bought them from seemed knowledgeable, and said that with lash caps the valves are stock length. if these are unmilled, in theory i should come up with needing a higher length rod i measured my trick flow 7.4 rods and got 7.409. so take .025 off of those, since 7.4 rods are commonly used on stock gm liters that require a perfect world .075ish preload, and i end up with 7.384. that should be the perfect world rod length for a stock head ls1 (correct me if im wrong)
so 7.384-7.313 gets me .071. thats how far off i am from a perfect setup for an unmolested ls1. how do my numbers look?

i then took the adjustable rod and dead soft tightened the rocker on it. i then torqued it to 22lbs. it took me 5/8 of a turn to get to 22, which upon many threads I've read is dead on what u want. between 7 and 8 o'clock. i definatly need a shorted rod tho, because when i try to use the 7.4 rod, the rocker doesn't sit properly on the stand

Default Pivot Height + Lash Cap

Hi, the Pivot height AND Stem Height MUST MATCH.

Mark the Cap Top with a felt Marker, spin the engine with rocker installed.

SEND THAT Witness Mark picture ?

I USE Lash Caps as much as possible AND have all sizes ? (.050mm)

On the car already so no pics. But like anything could benefit from a mild hand clean up. They still look really good port wise. I mean they make 610 crank on a stock bore/stroke ls2 so that should prett much some up how good they are ( yes I no those numbers arent using a factory style intake and a larger than avg cam)
