Default Build issues with shop. Need opinions please!

I need some opinions on what I should do. I had my 2000 WS6 built by a shop that was about 90 minutes away from me. I am from New Hampshire. I checked their reviews and everything seemed good. I went to them to have H/C/I installed all of which I supplied. I also supplied an, AEM 320 lph in tank pump and a Racetronix Hotwire kit p/n FPWH-017 as it says on the label on the harness. I also picked up a Diamond Stage 2 complete clutch kit and a new modified master cylinder. More about the clutch later...

So I had a lot of work done. At the point it was time to start it up and check for leaks I got a call. Apparently there was no fuel pressure. They saw the pump was getting power at the plug but wasn't running. they removed the tank again and determined the pump power and ground was reversed. They corrected the problem and the pump ran as it was tested on the bench this time. When I was called, I was told that I had provided the incorrect wire harness. Since I was an hour and a half away I couldn't get there. So I said I guess so, and that was that. I was able to check into what I had ordered and I had ordered the correct harness from the WS6store. I just found the label on the actual harness on my car and it says FPWH-017.

Before they above incident I was called and told the Slave cylinder was defective and it needed to be replaced. It was a Luk unit that came with the Diamond stage 2 kit. I was told the fitting that connects to the master had pulled out of the body of the slave. The engine and trans was installed waiting for the speed bleeder to show up when it was discovered. This fitting that pulled out on the slave normally has a roll pin holding it in. I was told by the shop the bore that it goes into looked funny. So I aired on the side of caution and told them to replace it. I had a replacement slave sent overnight and it was good to go. I talked to Diamond Clutch and they said they had never seen a missing roll pin before in 10 years of installing clutches. They also went through their entire inventory to make sure they did not have any in house. No slaves were found without roll pins. I also sent the slave back to Diamond and they said it was fine other than the roll pin. I looked at it under magnification at my work and it had a roll pin installed in it at one point. I could see the marks from the pin being present. On a side note, I had a great experience with Diamond clutch and they where great to deal with! I highly recommend them. The stage 2 I have feels like stock to me.

I get the final bill after it's all done and I was charged $380 for the removal of the gas tank and rewiring the pump, and $285 for the slave cylinder replacement. This shop gets $95 an hour. I wasn't happy about it, but I paid the bill in full and then I went straight to the tuner where it was found the car was only on 7 cylinders. After a lot of swapping around wires and plugs it wasn't resolved. Of course it was number 8 and about impossible to get to. I had it sent back to the shop to get looked at. It was found to have number 8 push rod out of place. That was corrected and then tested. I had the car back at the tuner in 2 weeks. Long story short, it has been tuned and runs well. I am happy with the final product.

What is everyone's thoughts on how I should handle this?

How did the shop “correct” the pump harness issue?

I do not know exactly. I assumed they swapped the pins on one of the connectors, but I am not sure exactly what was done. Like I said. I am 90 minutes away from the place on a good day so it was all by phone.

They charged you for 4 hours on that gas tank. That's probably book labor at 2 hours each time they dropped the tank. The question is whether they miswired the pump the first time. It's possible that they messed up and charged you 2 extra hours labor to fix their mistake.

If you feel they cheated you ask for a refund for some of the labor, especially since you had to take it back a second time for #8 pushrod.

This...
You should call them and ask questions. Let them explain all of this to you again. If it doesn’t seem right to you afterwards, tell them you will leave a review. I hope they made the repairs in the tank on the harness correctly.
