Wiring Harness install before installing engine?
Wiring Harness install before installing engine? Dropped the engine out of a 99 Fbody, through the bottom, am nearing the finish line with my Lq4 build and almost ready to put it back and have never done this before. If I wire up the harness while the engine is out and easy to get to, will that bite me in the tail as I am installing the engine? Any gotchas I should be aware of?
For the record, I am a 1 man show and have done this entire build with nothing but searches on this site so far. Thanks to all who have posted, not just to me but in general.

As long as nothing snags on the way back in, AND you will be able to reach all connectors once it's in, there should not be any issues with hooking up as much as you can beforehand. Just plan your work, then work your plan!
It is much much easier to install the harness on the engine while it is still out. Just make sure to have all of the chassis connectors and PCM connectors stacked on top of the engine and out of the way when you lower the car onto the engine or raising the engine into the car.
Thank you. Was expecting something like "oil pressure sensor hits firewall if plugged in ahead of time" or some other gotcha. There's a lot to watch for and I'll either be doing this alone or with a friend who is absolutely not mechanically inclined at all.
I gotta say, pulling it out from the bottom with a lift was pretty darn straightforward, I did that all alone. I would almost say "easy". Hoping putting it back is just as straightforward. We'll see :-)
