Default Motor Mounts....to do or not to do question

I'm in the process of tearing my motor down for a heads/cam/intake swap and just thought about the motor mounts. As far as I know they're still good (69000 miles) but if they're as hard as I've read to change would it be a good idea to do them now and avoid the hassle later? I do have some hitting of the pipes on the floor sometimes but I don't know whether this is a mount related issue or not I am on kind of a tight budget or there would be no question but I am trying to save some money for the tune it's gonna need afterwards. Thanks for any opinions. .

did you plan on upgrading the mounts or just a stock replacement if you had to change them?

Do them. I put headers on when my car had about 30,000 miles on it. One of the mounts was starting to tear. The car was about 7-8 years old at the time. To me, they were harder than the headers and I am glad I listened to everyone on here saying to change them when you do the headers. There is a great thread about changing headers and replacing the motor mounts.

It is a sticky right in this forum..

I was planning on upgrading if they had to be done. May as well bite the bullet and do them since the headers will be off.

What do you guys think of these?

Do it. Your gonna need the headers out. Even with just the headers out it was a pain. Would be way easier to do with heads off as well.

Thanks, just ordered a set from Amazon. Might as well do it right the first time.

yeah I would do it... its alot easier if you take out the pedestal with the mounts and then swap over to poly mounts.. (thus not having to remove alternator or AC compressor)

I put Spohn Pedestals and Poly mounts on mine and it took about 5 hours to do both sides...

Thanks, will do it like you said.

I've read in some posts about the motor sitting a bit higher with poly mounts? I hope this isn't true or my exhaust banging will be worse.

I take the last post back. I see the mounts are no different height wise so I guess it's not gonna sit any higher. I must've gotten that mixed up with aftermarket pedestals maybe causing it to sit higher. Anyway, my mounts were in surprisingly good shape but are very soft/flimsy compared to the poly mounts, so I'm glad I'm taking care of this now instead of later.
