Finally got my engine back in the car only to find out my UMI strut bar does not fit....it hits the raised lettering on top the mani.....thought about shaving them down but I feel it would still be to close.....i know fast 102 does not fit a strut bar but never heard of the 92 not fitting

I agree the 1/8 spacers are the best bet to get a good fit.

The Hotchkiss fits with the Fast 102 intake with a pair of 1/8 inch spacers .

You need to track down an original gray fast 92, before they came in black. I think it sits lower, I could be wrong. I'm on a UMI kmember with prothane mounts. Mine is an original that I painted black, and it clears my UMI STB just fine. What pissed me off is that I had a set of used fast 92 fuel rails for an ls1 with no brackets and ordered some brackets and I could not get the injectors to seat properly. Finally I gave up and bought holley rails that worked just fine. The issue is that the brackets for the fast fuel rails were for the new style fast 92 intake, and were not a proper fit for the old one. Was a royal pita to figure out what the problem was because these guys like to change **** and don't put the word out.

There are those who desire a car that handles well on not only in a straight line, but curves too! And for that the strut bar is needed to prevent front end flexing that Gen III and IV F-bodies suffer from in extreme handling situations.

A strut bar helps compliment the look of an engine bay especially if it's the same color as the valve covers.

"but...but...but.. he didn't trailer that car and drove it 4 hours to the track after daily driving it all week AND won the qtr mile event in his class AND won the car show immediately after that very same day?!"

Yes... yes he did. Do you want to help carry his trophies or are you just going to stand there and let everyone continue to trip over your jaw?

Yeah if it's on a pretty much dedicated drag car, then it's pretty useless.

I will go right home and pull mine off. So what's your solution for lexan lifting due to cowl flex? Seriously.

I was being sarcastic, with all the comments on tossing the brace. I DO know it's good for more than corner-carving...

Its an old debate. Some say they are snake oil. We have **** roads here, and I'm not a corner carver. I did feel less front end and cowl shake over rough patches of road when i installed one. I've also noticed (and common) that lexan will lift if not screwed at the bottom of the front and hatch glass due to flex. For those reasons alone I will recommend them, even for straightline racers.

I agree! Anything that tightens up the structure is a plus for all around drivability. I never saw any minuses to the strut bars, besides the clearance issues brought up here.

drag up my old post.......anyone know how much higher the fast 92 is over a LS1/6 ? I did replace the motor mounts with poly and you know that raises the engine some.....so that plus the higher mani make the strut brace not to fit and throws off my SLP elbow and lid fitment too ? ( another thread i have out )
