lm7 budget build
Hey I apologize as I am new to the forms and am trying to find as much information as I can.
I have a lm7 5.3 in a 04 sierra. I am trying to decide where to start with the performance for it. I'd prefer a torquey motor but also would like to make some decent power numbers. I was thinking of going with a true dual exhaust set up with a x pipe, long tube headers, a higher flowing air filter (if that makes a difference) and a tune to start myself off. With 3:73 gears can I expect to feel a decent difference in power? I am also trying to figure out what size exhaust and headers to run. My goal is 400-450 someday so I would prefer to get a exhaust that will support these mods up to that point. I also am thinking about a corvette servo and what ever else I can do to beef up the 4l60e. The truck will also have most of the torque management removed if not all. Thanks in advance

For a budget, Speed Engineering will be able to hook you up with a full stainless dual exhaust, from headers back to exhaust tips for around $750. That's long tubes, Y pipe (unmerged if you want true duals), exhaust piping, mufflers, tips, in 3" stainless.
What gearing do you have now? There were several options from the factory. It might be cheaper to just swap an entire rear differential instead of paying for parts and labor for gearing.
You'll have to do a tune after gear swap, or your shift points on your transmission will be way off.
