Exclamation i need help

car wont crank...

just finished a head cam install on a 2004 GTO, tried to start it car wouldnt crank... then it cranked but no fuel or spark..... now back to no crank ....

here is what i have done and checked already

- replaced battery in fob car locks and unlocks ( was told that if it does this then vats is ok)
- checked fuse's and relays in engine bay and in cabin under steering wheel
- fuel pressure in rail was ok
- no spark (when it was cranking i checked for spark with inline spark test light) and pulled plugs no fuel either ***
- checked ground and power at starter

so my first thought was the clutch start switch failed so i jumped the wires and tried to crank the car ... and it cranked for as long as id like
checked for spark and no spark or fuel, pulled a fuses and relays all were good, checked for fuel pressure in rail and it was fine, then i checked for power and ground at coolant temp sensor it was fine the gto "secret" menu shows coolant temp in the mid 40's and thats about what it is outside so thats working then after all that it just stopped cranking again.

NOW ... the car wont make a sound when i turn the key no dead battery klicks, but just to be sure i had it on a jump and still nothing ...

my next thought is the crank position sensor is bad. would that keep it from cranking at all ?? or would it still crank even if the crank sensor was bad?

The easy one, first...does the fuel pump prime when in “RUN” (first key position). If not, have a friend help by moving/tugging the ground wires. Because cranking is intermittent, I’ll guess that you either have a ground issue, or possibly a key/switch/wiring issue. Best of luck.

Well first thing you need is a scanner and check for DTC's, a test light and a DVOM.

The mods you have done should not cause the problems you are having.

There are a couple quick things you can check to point you in the right direction.
