Default Kooks 1 7/8 interference with O2 sensor and trans lines.

I see that the C6 kits apparently come with a modified bracket to move the lines, but that seems to be because they actually touch the header themselves. My issue is with the passenger side header bolted tight, there is absolutly no way that the O2 sensor will be able to be installed. I have unbolted that bracket and attempted moving the lines around, but anything I gain in clearance for the sensor I lose in rubbing against the starter and other places still without being able get the sensor in. Clearance around the rest of the headers is great, the O2 wiring on the car side will need to be secured back from the header, but otherwise all else is good.

Anyone have a solution for this? Kooks tech support obviously said he had done hundreds and hundreds of these and zero issues with those installs. Period. Not seeing the possibility of that based on this install.

could I move my O2 sensors back the the xpipe with out wreaking havoc? I have an uncatted xpipe that has three bungs welded in. One obviously for a wideband, but the other two, wouldnt think they'd be for rear O2 sensors?

Look on ebay for oxygen sensor spacers. Maybe a 90 degree spacer would solve your issue.

I wouldn't be happy with that fitment either.

From what I've read on the Corvette forum over the years people have reported fitment issues with LGs, kooks, Dynotech, and ARH and so on. There is also some variation in cars.

Really stupid question on my part and no disrespect is intended, can the O2 sensor be screwed all the way in and seated before slipping the header into place and bolting to the motor? There are a lot of threads showing and being seated could help reduce the length and fit issue.

Not all O2 sensors are exactly the same size. There a little variation in length and width. Noticed this when I replaced 02's on my 99 TA. I'd measure the length of the O2's sensor and go to the local auto parts store and ask to see several different brands of O2 sensors and measure them. You might find one that's a little shorter. I don't know if that will get enough clearance but it may help. I would replace both O2's with the same brand as they can have a slight variance I how they read voltage. I memory serves the Denso O2's were a bit shorter than the set of Bosche 02's I replaced on my LS1. Not sure if LS2/LS3/LS7 use same sensor.

What year is the car? If the car is an older C6, have the motor mounts been replaced? Over time they can compress and cause various issues with header installs. This is also true on other cars too.

Are you sure they are actually Kook's headers? There are several off shore knock headers that have been passed off as Kook's in the past.

If the headers definitely are Kook's, have you considered asking them for a replacement header? There can be some variation with any product.

I would call Kook's back and ask to speak with a different customer service representative. There is definitely some variation in those as well. The lady that often answers the phone is helpful and should be able to get you in contact with the right person that can help.

FWIW - I have 1 7/8 headers Kook's on my 99TA, they fit nicely, much higher quality product than the Hooker LT's previously on the car.

Best wishes on getting the C6 header install sorted out.

The car is a 2002, and they are definitely kooks as I purchased straight from them and not a middle man vendor. If I screw in the sensor before lifting the header into place, the header jams up against the heat shield and still against the lines. Hopefully they'll be open to sending another header, but I had mine jethot coated so with the way I've been essentially dismissed already, I'm betting they wont. Guess I'll see what happens Wednesday after Christmas...

Put them in the rear o2 holes if your not running the rear 02 or a wideband. Are you running SD tune?

there are three bungs in the mid pipe, in the pic you can see one that is plugged right there online with the K brace and the the two that are further back. I'll be running a wideband, looking to see which one now currently AEM UEGO 30-4100 will probably be on it's way shortly unless I get some other recomendations. WB will be in the currently plugged hole in the mid-pipe, the two open further back are where I'm running my stock rear o2s and repinning the pcm to avoid buying adapters.
