I run the Straub set in my car. I'm sure they're all the same but Straub's customer service is why I chose them.

The main difference between the CHE type and Straub type kits is the CHE bushings slip in and the Straub ones press in. There are copies of both, so take your pick and buy quality.

Bought the Smith Bros kit from ebay for $140 and they look identical to the Straub kit.
I'm sure they're both manufactured by the same company.

thanks for the replies! Looked at numerous kits and was surprised to find that a few are using "captured needle" bearings. I'm going with a bushing type, to totally eliminate the needles. Going with either Straub, or CHE. Purchased the tool from Summit, so now just need to box up the heads to send out for rehab.

CHE slips together. No pressing needed.

Have used 3 sets ove summitracing retrofit trunnion kits, so far . P/n SUM-141560. It's a re-boxed straub kit. Two of them have over 10k miles. Been flawless so far. Had to pull one due to a broken spring. Pulled apart rocker just for the hell ove it. Looked absolutely perfect ... I suggest take your time and install with common sense and you really can't go wrong with any ove the options you have.che/straub/summit......

Received the tool from Powerhouse yesterday, will break rockers down tonight. Going to clean them up at work, have a mold shop there so I have access to soda blaster, ice blaster, chem tanks, washers, etc. Give a good inspection and go from there. Leaning toward the Straub kit.

No need for heavy treatment. Just parts clean em. And reinstall what you got.

LOL, gotcha. Ended up using diluted purple power and a brass brush. They turned out great. Thanks!

What're the name of the copy of the Che? Are they drop in too? No pressing required?

Ended up using Smith Brothers kit. Very pleased with it. Press in bushings installed effortlessly using Lucas assembly lube.

I have straubs on my turbo 5.3 and haven’t had any issues, and weren’t hard to install with a 1 ton HF press. My second set I got the CHE kit and they went together much easier (no pressing required). I feel like the CHE is a higher quality kit with a larger trunnion vs a larger thicker brass bushing like the straub. My straub has the straight band for oiling (they have like 3 or 4 design iterations in a few years) but the CHE have what in my head are better oiling channels. For the price difference and ease of install I would prob go with the CHE again.
