Why does my tach stop at 6500

Default Why does my tach stop at 6500
It's really weird. I noticed it the last time I went to the track. When I was making a pass I was watching the tach and it stopped at 6500, but I could hear the engine increase RPM.
Today I went for a little ride and manually shifted the 1-2. The tach stopped reading at 6500. When it got to that RPM, I shifted into second, but it touched the limiter at 7200.

Why is this happening?

Stock tach is garbage. Invest in a shift light

I agree, but it wasn't doing this untill recently. I had the shift points changed from 6500 to around 7k.
Id see the tach run right to 7 Grand. Now or stops at 6500.
Like it's just loosing signal. What can I do, if anything to check it

Yeah I've got my limiter at 7200 now up from 6500 right after cam/heads and can significantly notice how the tach slows after 6500.
