Coolant system
1996 impala ss rebuilt 98 ls1 nnbs intake, flex injectors, 243 heads, trunnion upgrade, btr truck cam 218/224 .553 110lsa 1-7/8 long tubes to 2.5 exhaust x-pipe, 4l80e, 2800 stall. truck fead from previous 5.3 700 miles on the build.
Need help troubleshooting bugs in the coolant system.... The coolant system was fine with the 5.3 was spinning the 5.3 to 6800 rpm 140+ mph with out an issue. However with this 5.7 the aluminum radiator just started spewing coolant from the cap after a little spirited driving. Cap on the radiator is rated at 16psi.
My coolant tank is from a late model Ford focus. Cap is rated at 21 psi. One line goes to a brass T in the heater hose. 2 small lines one to radiator overflow other to steam pipe. I never had an issue with the setup til Saturday when coolant started shooting out from the cap on the radiator. Replaced the cap yesterday and smae thing happened on the way to work and changed hoses to the steam and radiator and it did it again on the way home.
Water pump and thermostat is from old block but is only 6 months old. And the car sat for a about 2 months during the build.
Trying to see where to start troubleshooting. Only 700 miles on the new build.

Why do you have 2 different psi rated caps? Doubt that would cause anything since its beem like that without issues. I'd take the hoses off and throw a garden hose down the upper hose. Flush the crap out of it! Maybe water jacket is clogged. Are you using dex or green garbage? Spewing from cap.. Make sure rad neck doesn't have a broken plastic tab or something where the cap isn't sealing properly. Also... Never cross of list when 'coolant spewing' is being used... Hydrocarbon test your coolant.
Good luck
