Default Ebay Over Axle True Dual Install

Just wanted to post my experience with this system... I was very impressed with everything (especially for $340 shipped)!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Quad-Tip-Tr...53.m2749.l2649

My car has an LQ9, TSP 228R 112lsa, an unknown set of headers, no cats and 3" pipe back to a Magnaflow muffler. It didn't sound terrible, but I did not like how much rasp it had. After a couple of times removing and reinstalling everything, some of the pieces of pipe were pretty beat up and I had a tough time getting rid of an exhaust leak (and I just wanted true duals). So I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this kit.

I ended up using the whole kit and didn't have to replace any hardware or anything. It took a long weekend to get it installed and mostly adjusted (including the panhard bar relocation kit). I was able to get it tucked up pretty good and I am happy with the ground clearance, though I think I need to do some more tweaking because some spots are hitting the body. I'm not a huge fan of how big the quad tips are and they definitely need some more adjustment (I probably spent the most time back there). The driver side sticks out further than the passenger side and it is also lower. I ended up not using the rubber isolators on the hangers in favor of some heater hose and hose clamps in order to get everything higher up.

These pictures are from before I drove it any significant distance so I think it's settled a little bit lower, but nothing drastic like some of the stories I've heard.

Here are some videos of before and after... though the phone really doesn't pick up the difference. The true dual is ALOT louder (duh!)... though I wasn't prepared for how loud it actually is. Standing next to it while idling, you can feel it in your chest! I can't get these to embed so the link to the album will have to do...

Exhaust Comparison Videos

My android phone wouldn't record anything over 90 some dba's... which is probably why the videos don't show much difference. So I used my work iphone to get these decibel readings... it's just running through the gears going up to 4500ish rpms (similar to the interior videos). As you can see the true duals are much louder!

I'm planning on getting some cats put on to quiet it down some... I feel bad for my neighbors when I leave at 5:30 in the morning! Whenever that happens I'll get some more decibel readings for comparison.

FWIW I did the speed engineering true duals and the tips stick out different lenghts. I love the sound, its not louder than what im used to, may even be quieter on a cold start. I almost did the ebay kit but assumed the SE kit would be less finicky. The main thing to keep in mind is the power you are gaining in spots other than peak power, thats where true duals really helps.

Curious as to how loud the speed engineering true duals are? I want to go true duals without being to obnoxious.

OP, Good looking exhaust pics. Thanks for posting.

My old exhaust was pacesetter long tubes, texas speed off road y pipe, and a loudmouth cat back. Obnoxious. So I put in a muffler on the loudmouth...still loud and just sounded like garbage. The speed eng duals are pretty loud on a cold start, but my kitchen floor no longer shakes like it did with the loudmouth WITH muffler. Once its warmed up and idling its not loud at all to me, but you know its got exhaust. Its also very deep sounding at idle, then basically the more you rev it the louder it gets. 2 quick revs (small then big) puts a smile on my face. It drones as well with my auto, stall, 3.73s but not really on the highway. If its your weekend toy car I would run it no hesitation. If you daily drive it maybe adding some high flo cats would tone it down?

Yeah, I think some cats are my next step. I've been driving it this week and the drone around 1600-2000 rpm is terrible. As soon as I get cats put on, I'll post a new dba graph as well as a video clip.

Yeah the drone at 1600 to 2000 RPM is bad lol!! I'm either going 65 mph in 6th gear or 90mph when cruising around to avoid it lol!!

High flow cats should drop the DB levels a bit. Placing them as close to the headers as possible is probably the best place.

I'd like to know who's running the patriot spirals with their SE true dual setup. Part #H3844 and how much it quieted it down in the cabin with windows up using a $20 BAFX Products Decibel Meter. Not sure if the iPhone is accurate enough.

That ground clearance is great!! Did not expect that. Am I the only one who think eBay kits have stepped their game up? Not just exhaust, but with turbos etc.?

Here's my eBay kit! It tucks up really nice accept for as others have mentioned, the driver side sticks out some more and hangs lower though it's hard to tell in the pic but the ground clearance is exelent. I'm going to drive it a bit more and continue to adjust it as I go. I don't want to cut anything back there until I get it completely right. I ordered a few lap joint band clamps to better seal the x pipe connections but the included clamps are actually really good and worked great everywhere else. I just had some fitment issues with mine I think because I've replaced the collectors on my old pacesetter headers and they're janky but I can't fault this kit for anything. I've done a lot of exhaust kits and this is the nicest for the money I've ever had! Did I mention that sound!?

This looks a lot like the Speed engineering kit. I wonder if the supplier decided to start selling it.

i put spirals inside of the resonators on my SE true duals and it made it so much more barrable. definitely worth it. i did have to grind them down a little to fit inside and then i tack welded them so they wouldn't rattle. but cheaper and easier than cats.
