Sanding down the outside of FAST 102 runners?

Default Sanding down the outside of FAST 102 runners?

What is the general consensus on sanding down the outside of the FAST 102 runners, and using JB-Weld to keep the runners together?

Makes sense that it would work, but I think the same result could be accomplished by just adding epoxy to each un-sanded runner to create a smooth surface.

Basically, add epoxy to the grooves (modified image from Summit):

Thoughts?

I sanded mine down and epoxied them. It doesn't cost much to do. There was a thread on the Corvette forum of a guy claiming 10-12hp from doing it. If it picks up anything it is worth it to me

I saw the same thread, so I was considering doing this as well. However, he does have over 100 cu. more than us, so I'm not sure if it'll make a difference.

I was also thinking about port matching my intake.

I think that is the thread that I linked in the first post in this thread.
I am most likely going to have a FAST 102 ported and port matched to the heads that I am going to buy. I would really like to see what someone under 400 CID gained from sanding the outside of the runners.

I'm guessing the gains are from increasing the plenum volume slightly.

If it gains anything, it might just be from sealing the joint in the runner.

the plenum volume increase would be negligible. Even large plenum increases can produce negligible gains.
