Default headers install cost

Hi, I was wondering about how much some speed engineering lone tube headers would cost to install to a 2k t/a? I'm tring to find someone who will do it too. Location NE Arkansas.

I think it cost me about $350 to have a set installed.

My 02 Z28 is having Speed Engineering 1 7/8 headers installed this week. Can probably give an accurate answer by end of week. Estimate was $350 to $500 depending on how well or how bad they fit.

My guess is $400

About to finish up with a 5.3 install in the Tahoe. I'm sure it would have cost me a couple of thousand to pay someone to do it too.

How many hour job is this on a T/A, are there a lot of clearance issues to work around?

I'm about to do longtubes on my GTO but it looks like more room in there than an F-body.

Long tubes took me about 2 hours to install.... Hardest part was trying NOT to break the manifold bolts off. If I remember right, driver side went in from the top and passenger side had to go in from the bottom..... I think.

Speaking of exhaust manifold bolts I had no issues removing the exhaust manifold bolts on my LS1 however the engine and trans was sitting on the k-member and rolled out from under the car before removing them. The 5.3 I pulled already had broken off bolts in both cylinder heads but the ones in the middle came out fine. Just be careful when removing them and be sure to tap on your tool at the same time your turning to help break the seal on the threads. If you break them off in the heads your going to have a lot of fun trying to remove them with the engine in the car.

Two weeks ago got headers done at Norris Motorsports. It was a 4 hour install for the headers cost $460 in labor.

Two exhaust manifold bolts broke and that added $200. If i'd tried at home, those two broke bolts would have been beyond my skill level to extract without help

I'm happy with the install.

There are plenty of how to's, and youtube videos on how to do it. It is a pig though, you have to get the car fairly high up, and then it's pain to get the headers weaved passed everything. A lift or twelve ton jack stands help. You need patience in spades. Can definitely understand wanting someone else to do it.

You might as well put poly motor mounts in while you're in there, if you don't have them already. Having the collector bang on the floor will suck, and speaking of pigs to do: Try putting motor mounts in with headers in the way, after you discover your driver's side collector hits the floor under load and at idle.

Based on pics, it looks as if Dynatech headers should be easier to install than other brands with longer collectors.
