Default Magnaflow or TSP catback

Hey guys, been doing some reading as I want to change my Catback. Currently running a magna-mouth conversation and want to go back to a stock style set up and hopefully quiet it down a bit more. I have TSP LTs and ORY so I looked at their catback. I heard the muffler is similar construction to the magnaflow. Does anyone know if they sound similar or if they are equally as loud?

Also, which would you do? Price is about same but I can get magnaflow from summit with free shipping.

I don't have any experience with the TSP, but if you're looking for quiet, the Magnaflow should fit the bill. The thing I don't like about that catback are the cannon tips. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't buy it for that reason alone.

Nice. I actually prefer those tips, I don't really like the dual tips. I seem to be the only one though.

You wouldn't happen to know if the intermediate pipe is 3" ID or OD where it goes on y pipe would you?

The TSP catback has a bit of a growl to it. Highly recommend it.

Another question I just thought of, will either of those kits require the intermediate pipe to be modified for the 3 inch y pipe or will the just slip into or over it?

The TSP ORY should be squeezed to 2.75 to accept your run of the mill cat-back. You wont have to change anything. The TSP catback is on the list of choices for me. But, I was considering changing to single tips on it. Im just not big on the twin outlet tips.

Me either, think they look better on T/As over Camaros but still not a huge fan of them.
That makes sense, the SLP LM pipe fit over it, tight fit but it fit.

Don't know if they ever fixed it, but the drivers side tailpipe on the TSP sagged bad unless you did something permanent like a U-bolt clamp or welding it. No hanger on that side + the weight of the huge dual tip was the culprit. Went dumped LM1 to TSP catback back to a dumped XR1.

Edit: Checked their website. Looks like they updated it with a drivers side hanger. I had one of the first 3" systems in early 2017 I believe. They probably updated it when the 3.5" came out. That's what i'd get if starting from scratch.

Id do the tsp, but I think id do neither knowing what I know now lol. 3" single exit with a fake tip on the pass side is where I'll be next. Or a mufflex 3.5 system.

A single turn down pipe is fine for a Z28 or Formula. Only reason for a second tip is on a Trans Am.

I'd recommend a Hooker Maxflow with a single outlet for your car. But they no longer make the 22" muffler I have on my car, and the 14" might be a little loud for your setup.

You'd be happy with both. I'd go with whatever offers the best deal.

Having switched directly from the magnaflow to TSP, the TSP is the winner hands down. For me it fit better, the tips are much nicer, the built in cutout is nice if you plan on using it, and just has a much better sound.

To me the TSP catback has a unique tone to it and none of the typical rasp most fbody exhausts have, even with an off-road y pipe. I had the magnaflow for 7 years and liked it, but over time it seemed to get a more empty sound. Although the mufflers are a very similar design, the TSP is noticeably louder, but not too loud IMO. My car has a heads / cam 6.0 with a 4000 stall and no cats, and the exhaust isn't too bad when cruising around town with the converter unlocked. Once you get on it though, this exhaust really screams.

I tack welded the driver side tailpipe to the muffler to keep it from moving, which it seemed to do quite a bit no matter how much I tightened the clamp. If that has been updated then it's an easy decision to get this exhaust.

OP I see you're not too far from me, so if you want my old magnaflow you can have it for free if you're on a tight budget. It's just sitting in my shed taking up space.

Good deal. I'd jump on that and put whatever tips you want on it. If you ever need to open it up for more power just add a cutout. No need to change the whole system and make it too loud to enjoy driving like most of us have done already. Been there done that won't do it again. Quiet exhaust and cutout is the way to go for these cars.

iirc, the mag had its own mounting hardware that replaced the stock stuff.
