Default Electrical issue
I've been searching and trying to figure it out but no luck so far. I have a 98 ls1 swapped in my chevelle. For the past few months it won't start after sitting for a few hours. If I jump it and drive for as little as a minute or two and turn it off it will re start no problem. I got a new battery and no change. I'm guessing there's something drawing/draining? Could it be alternator? Any ideas? Thanks!

Does the starter spin it or act like a dead battery?

Bad battery cable / connector. Get your battery "load tested" at an auto parts store after charging it up on a charger. Yes, a bad diode in the alternator rectifier could be blown thus allowing battery power to drain so get it tested at the parts store, too.

These should be free tests.

Thanks for the replies. Also, While checking the wiring I did several years ago I saw this in line with the alternator. I assume something is supposed to be connected to it?

Hard to tell from this angle but could that be the two-wire connector for the F & L terminals in the top of the alternator? Do you have something plugged into the top of the alternator?

Plug doesn't look like anything that would fit an LS alternator. Almost looks like an ATC fuse holder. Any idea where that red wire goes to? Battery?

I thought it may be a fuse holder too, but not sure how I would be functioning without a fuse in there. The harness is from PSI. There is a red and black wire going into white plastic connector. There's another larger gauge red wire that connects to the alternator and I think goes to the battery

I only see one wire in the connector?
And whats that splice next to it.. it almost looks like someone bypassed a fuse-able link..
