Question MAF Delete?

I have been trying to figure out how to remove my MAF without leaving a huge gap between the air filter and throttle body. The "S" shape hoses I have found don't "drop" down far enough (not enough offset). I don't like the flexible accordion-style boot either. Are there any alternatives?

I'm surprised there aren't after-market parts/kits for this type of mod. With programs like HP Tuners, no one uses a MAF anymore. Mine hasn't worked in years, and it's currently unplugged. I want it out of there, but I need to connect the air filter to the throttle body. Anyone have any ideas?

Use a piece of straight tubing in place of the MAF

I was wanting to put something over the top of the lid, instead of inside. Having a tube inside the lid will decrease airflow (a little). A straight pipe/tube would be better than a MAF though.
