Default 99’ TA o2 sensor help

I’ve got code P0154 (O2 sensor circuit no activity detected bank 2 sensor 1) ive heard this one is a pain in the *** to get to. passenger side behind intake manifold.

car runs awful under 3500 rpm, sitting fuel and has no acceleration at all. i’ve attached a picture below of the code i’m getting.

couple questions, how difficult is this to replace? i’ve heard some people take hours and other minutes.

second question, would there be an issue if i went to a tuner and had them completely disable the front O2 sensors? just tuning it in a way so the car thinks everything is running alright.

with the small amount of research i’ve done i have seen closed loop systems, and this car is by no means a track or race car. just a street car with enough power to pull on most other vehicles.

any help would be greatly appreciated thanks a ton gentlemen.

You have a connection issue on the 02 sensor on the passenger exhaust manifold before the cat. It has either become disconnected, needs to be replaced or the sensor is bad.

Yeah i assumed that was the issue, looked in the service manuals for a bit and i believe i found where it’s located, have you ever done bank 2 sensor 1?

There's an 02 sensor wire that is part of the engine harness and it has either a male or female connection that connects to an 02 sensor on the manifold. Disconnect the harness and remove the old 02 sensor and replace it with a new one. This may fix the issue unless the 02 sensor wire on the engine harness is bad.

Well that could be your problem! It runs along the inner fender well on the passenger side and connects into the exhaust manifold before the catalyst.

Yep. And I would add that it would be unusual for the harness to be fried; 99% the O2 sensor is fried.

But to answer your other question, yes, you can run your car without O2 sensors, open loop off the fueling tables. But you have to tune the car to do this. I've run my car for years at a time that way after frying my O2's in deep water - a long tube header liability, lol.
