ATI damper and ARP bolt....
I have a new ATI damper. It has a keyway slot in it.
My crank is standard so doesn't have a keyway.
I have the ARP damper bolt (934-2503).
ARP install instructions say to apply their assembly grease to the threads, under the bolt head and to the face of the damper where the washer sits.
That's simple enough.
ATI however advise to fit the keyway with high temp RTV (which I've done) but also to apply RTV to both sides of the washer.
I know the ARP assembly grease is designed to reduce friction and aid getting the right torque.
But adding RTV would surely be just a mess? Would the RTV even work properly if it's mixed up with the grease.
Anyone have a definitive solution?
At the moment I figure hopefully the keyway being filled with RTV should prevent a leak so stick with ARPs install instructions.
