Differences in LS6 intakes?
Differences in LS6 intakes? Looking for some less complicated bolt on options for my stock 2002 Trans Am LS1 w/Ram Air engine and found the LS6 intakes come in 2 different part numbers: 12561184 and 12573572 what is the difference between the two? I searched the site and looked at about 6 pages worth of threads trying to find an answer but came up with noting outlining the difference/similarities. I saw on one of the threads discussing intakes the Doorman replacement was exceptionally efficient and rivaled the LS6 for airflow/$$. Would it be required to get an intake with throttle body and fuel rails?
Would a tune be required to get the 20-25hp gain from the intake or is the gain just from the additional CFM?

Still curious on the 2 part numbers, is one for the 5.7L and the other for the 6.0L? From the marketplace it seems they only sold the one number and online is primarily the other.

Sometimes GM changes part numbers. No rhyme or reason that I know of. Dorman makes an LS6 intake as well. Maybe you found that part number and didn't realize it was an aftermarket replacement part.
