Default Speedmaster electric water pump

Anyone have experience with this pump? I’ve searched and can’t find anyone with first hand experience.

Let me know gents, thank you!

I don't have any experience with them. I would love a cheap option for a EWP though. Try it and report back!

Looks like it should be light.

They work, if you can stop the leaks.

If you want a cheap pump, do the research to find a reliable and cheap big block water pump, and then use the available adapters to put it on your LS.

Do you have experience with the Speedmaster? I have seen very few reviews anywhere. There's one or two on Amazon and one of them mentions a leak.

Yes, I am also looking into the Big Block conversion! Any info you have on that is helpful as well. I found the adapters for $50-70 but unsure which way to go with the pump itself

Yes, I've used this exact pump after seeing a buddy (also on this forum) use it with success.
He managed to get all of the leaks in check and its worked out great. Mine, not so much. I messed with the leaks for a bit and then took it off.
I can deal with minor leaks and the risk, but not on the car I was using it on. So I went back to a mechanical pump (they cool far more anyway).
I plan to keep it and use on another engine, though.

There are lots of super cheap big block electric pumps. Try to find reviews somewhere for one that works and go that route.
Most of the big block pumps also flow more than the Speedmaster pump.

From what I’m seeing, there’s some questionable bbc pumps that are $120-150-170 but the good ones are $300-400+

if I’m going to go with a “questionable” one then I mine as well go for the speedmaster LS pump IMO

Not set in stone yet, but I’m leaning that way and then doing a full write up on here for those looking for a lightweight and budget option...

I've been ruining that speed master pump over a year now. Zero leaks or issues. I really like it at the strip. Its great to be able to cool your water temps down with the engine off while in the staging lanes. I drive it to and from the track with quite a bit of street duty too. I did use liquid Teflon on all the fittings and ensured they were tight. Defiantly not tight out of the box and had no sealer. So far nothing but good things to say.

wanting to say I recall the back side of those spacers didn't have o rings and I used OEM WP gaskets? Honestly its been so long and the install was so quick and easy I don't remember. Also Speed master usually has a sale once a year and you can get them 30% off. Believe I got this and some head studs on a black friday sale.

Great info thank you!

Any pics installed? How about belt routing and/or plumbing for the lines?

Ill try to get some. I run the Fbody OEM alt bracket. ALT is the only accessory. I don't use a tensioner, just a "perfect" length belt. Basically loosen all the bolts, stretch that bad boy on (very difficult) and then tighten up the bolts. Few of the RX-7 Swap LS guys have done this with great success. Seems to work very well.

The coolant hose plumbing was almost the same for my setup on the upper pass side. Added a few bends and a length of straight alum tubing to hit the driver side lower. This is in an old Mazda Rx-7 so won't help you much.

Gotcha, sorry I didn't realize it was an Rx-7. I would still love to see pics though

I run the street meziere. But i took that big idler pulley, tensioner and smaller idler pulley off years ago.

I ran it mostly with just the "right" fit belt. Just rolled it on then removed the idler by the ps to take it off. With the jegs alt bracket i did away with that idler.

Why not switch to a race version instead of shredding your street version? lol

Because i already had it mostly. The street version is supposed to pump 55 gal/min and i still have the heater/ac so it's easy.
