With that split or tear in the inline PCV valve boot you may still have a slight vacuum leak. I know it would look like crap but you may want to get some black electrician tape or Gorilla duck tape and try to seal it up. I also agree with you on getting the inline PCV valve closer to the port on the intake manifold. You'll know if you have leak there if you just spray some B12 there and notice any idle changing.

I was thinking the same thing

I really would consider this if I were you. I have less oil consumption than most ls owners and yet I'm swapping out the stock valley cover for the ls6 version. Less oil consumption, better oil pressure, and less ugly hoses. I've spent WAY too much on my car this year and last year, so engine bay appearance will be 2022's project. Engine bay appearance is less important to me than both performance and exterior styling, but I'd really want to put in some effort into making that engine bay look nicer and less cluttered.

I might be mistaken, but by upgrading to the ls6 valley cover part number 12577927 (which was in the cts-v and gto), you won't need to run a pcv valve. The LS6 valley cover from the C5 does need it, however. You might want to research more about this, because I'm not 100% sure on the pcv valve. Hopefully, someone can chime in.

I think the LS6 valley cover can solve more headaches than just one for you.
