Default PCV on drivers side valve cover

I'm wrapping up my ls1 build in my sand rail and have moved on to plumbing everything. I've read all the catch can posts I can and determined I'm going to use a sealed can. I've got the routing figured out but will be using the drivers side valve cover port for the inlet to my can. The grommet in the valve cover itself currently has a plastic 90 degree fitting installed with a one way check in it. Should I leave this check valve or go with something open here? I still planned on using the stock pcv on the inlet to the manifold, I'm just not sure if both should be used in this system or not. If it matters this is an 02 ls1 out of a ws6, n/a with cam and 243 heads. One other thing is this engine had a fitting in the center rear of the intake manifold with a vacuum hose and sensor attached. I'm not sure where the previous owner had that hose going as it was just hanging there. Is this needed or just cap it?

Are you sure that 90 is also check valve? It certainly wasn't on my 01 LS1 and the only PCV I found was on the line from both valve covers and it was just before going into the intake manifold.

Here's a picture of this line I speak of. Notice the PCV valve at the end of the line. The original LS1 had a large port on the rear driver valve cover and two small ports for 3/8" hoses on the passenger valve cover.

Yes, it's definitely a check valve. I blew into it from both sides because I originally just thought it was a 90 fitting. After pulling it out I saw the valve. I have the same set up as you as far as valve covers and the stock pcv goes. The engine was originally built for a procharger so maybe the previous owner had something else going on. Guessing I should just come up with something different so it's a straight through fitting on that driver's side valve cover?
