Default Steam line routing

What's everyone doing with the steam line ?

I want to tap the water pump for the line to exit, but don't know if I should bypass the throttle body housing.
This will be a street/strip 6.0 truck motor not running in cold weather.

When we built ours I wondered the same thing. So I went and looked at multiple stock LS motors and they all went to the radiator. I turned the EWP on and the water flow goes towards the radiator. So that's how we hooked ours up. I wonder where you would need to hook to the water pump. Maybe the suction side. If you do, but wouldn't it be putting uncooled water directly back into the motor? Pressure side seems like it would fight the flow. Seems to work fine where we got it. Curious to what others know.

If the radiator has the return port then use that. The port that is fed when the radiator cap opens is the overflow port. The other port under that goes directly to end tank and that's the return port.
If not, drill and tap the flat spot on top of the water pump. That area is a low pressure zone in the coolant system so it will pull water/bubbles from the steam ports and goes into circulation. Think I used 1/4" NPT with a barb fitting.

I wound up drilling the top of the water pump housing as above.

If your radiator doesn't have a port have one welded on there. No big deal at all. Then there is no uncooled water going directly back into the motor. There is a lot more water moving thru there than you think. When we turned our EWP on to test, the water shot like thirty feet thru the shop in a solid stream. Glad no one was in front of it or they would have been soaked. Lol

I put a sensor adapter in the middle of the upper radiator hose and plumbed the steam line to that..
My lines are routed to make it uphill from the ports to the fitting on the hose.

Had no guidance just did what I thought looked good.. LOL

So far it seems to work.

It had the added benefit of letting me use a couple generic hoses to make the run from the engine to the radiator work..

If putting an ls1/ls6 intake on a 5.3 do I need new steam lines?

You shouldn't. But they're not hard to plumb if you do.
