Default ECT Sensor

Installed a Champion aluminum radiator with my LS1 swap into my '91 3rd gen Camaro. The relay kit includes a thermostat switch who's sensor end is too large for the hole in the intake just beneath the alternator as shown below. (1) is there another ECT senor on the LS? (2) anyone know of the correct part that will fit? (3) can I just "tap" into the current ECT pigtail? If so which wire (I believe the pigtail has three wires)? Thank you!

There is nothing on your coolant temperature sensor connector (the one under the alternator that you pictured) that will trigger your fan relay.

That is one big-*** thermal switch you bought; I can't think off anywhere on these engines (And you do have a Generation V engine, right?) that you could screw that into.

Why are you not using PCM fan control?

No. An LS1 in a 91 Camaro. He's in the wrong forum.

In the pic the sensor has the upsize bung for a Chrysler product on it.. Had one in my jeep 2.5..
The jeep sensor removed from the adapter fits in the head of my L33.. I put it passenger rear side to run the stock gauge.

Sorry...I am brand new to the LS1Tech forums. The engine is an LS1 from a C5 2002 Vette. The thermal switch is just the one that happens to come with the relay kit from Champion. Can I run both thermal switches: one under alternator connected to PCM to display temp on gauge cluster and other on rear passenger side of block to trigger the fans...or is that redundant? If so, great...just need the ECT sensor part number. If not, please advise on what others have done with this swap? Thank you.

What ECM are you using to control the engine? It should have the capability to control your fans with ground outputs that can trigger relays for your fan.

Use the Dark green and or dark blue wires from your ECM to control the fan. Do you have one or two fans? You can get your tuner to set the on off points. Use the wire from the ECM to trigger the ground side of the cooling fan relays.
