Not sure if this is in the right sub forum but can anyone identify this? Checking the grounds on the car and I noticed this on the back of the driver side valve cover. I see a hose that looks like it’s just hanging there but looks like there is a threaded spot on the valve cover. I’ve been driving the car like this but I’m not sure for how long as the car has been running fine and I haven’t noticed anything odd. Previous owner installed an oil catch can but I don’t know if they rerouted anything with the PCV. What exactly goes in the threaded spot on the cover?
The rubber grommet in the valve cover isn't "threaded". It just has grooves for sealing, sorta like O-rings. The thing in your hand is the PCV valve. It pushes into that grommet. (real high-tech retention method, that) Plug it back in properly; your car might run AHELLUVALOT better, especially at idle.

thank you for the reply. I kinda figured it went there but wasn’t certain, I’ll hook it back up. The car is cammed and has an ls6 intake so I never noticed anything harsh at idle that I can tell of but it can’t hurt to hook it back up
