Default Any opinions

So I have 02 SS Camaro, I ordered a FTP 98MM air lid will a 85MM MAF fit or can I order Hawks Performance LT1/LS1/LS6 billet aluminum ported MAF ends and use my stock MAF? I have a fast 102 with throttle body.

Why get a big lid and 102 TB and 102 intake only to choke it with a 78mm stock style MAF? Stock MAF with billet MAF ends are pretty worthless powerwise.

Various aftermarket ends sometimes caused knock retard randonly twenty years ago, the last time I recall anyone using them. I'd pass on them.

I'd want at least the 85mm MAF with your other parts. WS6 Store can provide all the correct couplers etc.

A Speed Density tune without any type of MAF is probably the best for power. A 100mm MAF is decent as well but usually a little more involved to calibrate and tune from I've read.

Totally agree with 99 Black Bird

These are the three places where I would start....

You can build a maf or order one from Texas speed. They are just housings with a screen, ls7 maf card, pigtail adapter and 2 housing ends. Maf is definitely the way to go for most street cars.

I'd do 100 but thats just my opinion. About 270 on eBay. Or do the LS7 conversions. The LS7 conversions can be as easy as cutting a hole in your air intake pipe and plug and play with a conversion pigtail.

I made a 102mm MAF out of an LS7 MAF card and a Spectre 4" MAF housing. It cost less than $100.

I am running the Z06 85MM, I tried the 100mm, Worked with my tuner and we came to the conclusion that because I live in Colorado and elevation is 4,900-5,100 feet above sea level I couldn't get the 100mm MAF to read right at idle correctly, there just isn't enough air here, and or I am not running enough cubic inches to get the 100mm MAF to be able to be calibrated correctly. Now at WOT it worked fine, we just couldn't get it to calibrate right at idle and low rpms.

Now that doesn't mean some one around here hasn't figured it out, I just can tell you from my personnel experiences.

What's the goals for the car?

I tend to be fairly conservative, my basic bolt on 02 Z28 has an 85mm MAF & 92mm TB etc. I'd also run on most typical heads & cam set ups for a LS1/LS1 car. Ran the 85mm MAF on my old heads & cam set up too.

For high rpm or big cubes the 100mm MAF. My 416 99 T/A has the 102 set up & LPE 100mm MAF.

Great Advice, from someone that's a tuner.

Not a tuner, I've just paid for a lot of tuning and learned the hard way Have had half a dozen or so LS set ups on my three LS cars over the last 22 years.
