If its "max effort", don't use risky parts that you can't trust.

That's the question, has anyone used them, can you trust them? Are they good, or just ebay garbage in a fancy wrapper.

ARP studs are a proven product. Why try anything else. Especially if you're going FI.

I have no problem spending money on ARP. I've done SBF stuff for years, and within the past 2 years started using LS engines. Lots of "new to me" brands is why I ask.

I have, not that exact brand but close. I purchased the $75 head stud kit off eBay in 2017, after a few years of use the nuts started to wear so I purchased the ARP "NASCAR" extended base 7/16-20 nuts for $10 off ebay in 2019, whole set is still going strong.

If its truly max effort he's going to blow the gasket out, bend a rod, or experience other levels of carnage no matter what fastener is on it because the point of max effort is to find the limit.

Because not everyone wants to spend a bunch of money on a SBE combo. Going fast for cheap is fun!

This was my experience with the "ebay" studs.

I got 3 years at 900+ HP with a stock 5.3 on ebay studs without any issues.
When I took them out and boxed them up, they rusted immediately which seemed odd to me. Other than that, no problems.
I certainly wouldn't have called it a max effort build. It was my daily and was a 95% stock long block.

Max effort is to find the limit without it being obvious, not to purposely skimp out on parts knowing they will likely be your failure point.

Hence why I replaced the nuts. Not entirely sure why you started the thread if you already didn't like them.

True, I got well over 900hp out of them for years and still going strong in another car. Point is doesn't matter what you buy it can all fail. Kinda like ebay turbos in the 6's now, is it a likely failure point or likely to last longer than a Precision

I started the thread about "Xotic" brand head studs. Not the eBay unbranded studs.

You get the feeling the number of users can be counted on one mutilated hand. ARP is a known quantity, AND quality. Xotic.... WHO are they??

Personally I wouldn't pay $180 for any off brand, that's too close to wholesale price of ARP so it doesn't make sense. The knockoffs are sold under 100 different "brands" at all different price points, Summit even sells them but the price is closer to $80 which makes sense.

I started the thread about Xotic. I can see nobody here has used, or heard of them, which was my question. There were other brands/companies of parts I had never heard of either until I started playing with LS stuff. I do appreciate the feedback.

You’ll find here on Tech that discussions about specific items very rarely stay on topic, and usually make sharp turns with opinions and hijacking. Classic Tech.

The diesel guys have great reviews for Xotic studs.
I would like to see if anyone has used extreme studs and BTR studs as well.

So this topic on Xotic studs started about a year ago so doesn't seem like too bad of a bump Anyone else use the studs or view the quality up close and if so is it just reboxed china with inflated cost or do they have a little more love put into them?
