Went from MACs to Jet Hots
#21
Hmmm...This seems to go both ways though...
Some people drop their MAC mids for LT's and gain the reported 2mph as said...But I've also seen plenty of people (bolt-on, cam only, & even a few H/C set-ups) make the switch and gain absolutely nothing on the dyno or at the track. Just remember, every car is different and reacts to different modifications accordingly...
From what I've seen overall though, the 1 5/8 MAC's seem to hold their own nicely against longtubes with sightly larger primaries on cars making under 400rwhp. The difference under the curve isn't nearly enough to make me want to switch mine out (run on my LT1 BTW) for some longtubes anytime soon since the mids appear dead equal up top. Anyways, not saying your car didn't benefit from them (because it sounds like it did a little), but I don't really think it is worth the hassle and cost to make the switch unless you're putting over 400 to the ground.
For the price, easy install, plug access, and gain, I don't think you can go wrong with some MAC's on a bolt-on or cam only car.
Glad you like your new LT's though,
Mike

I went to the dyno last week and put 347rwhp down and 355tq. My mods are ported tb, lid, and mac mid duals dumped before the axle and a tune. For what I have spent my car is quick and sounds mean, thus I am happy.

I just took my macs off in favor of FLP's. hoping to see some gains. It made 364hp with mods bellow untuned. I'm ready to sell them if any one is interested. Have local deal pending but we'll see?
