Ls2 water pump issues
Ls2 water pump issues So I bought a ls2 water pump and housing as well as a thermostat that goes to a gto. My problem is that when I put the thermostat in the water pump and go to Tighten the housing I can feel resistance from the thermostat spring opening. So I tried taking it off and I can push by hand and feel the spring opening. Is that normal? I tried 2 new housing from autozone and Amazon as well as three different brands of thermostats (duralast,fail safe and one other can't remember). My ls1 nor the 3.8 in my pontiac ever did this.

Never heard of anything like this. Most common problem was the diameter from the early Gen 3s. Now they all get replaced with the newer pump and t-stat.

Well, according to my stuff, that's the correct p/n for the AC Delco pump. The OE # for t-stat is 12600172. The interchange to Advance Auto is 524KT. We don't buy anything from Autozone at all.

all that is what I put in it I looked at the box its an ac delco thermostat and acdelco pump. As for the neck I tried ict billet and duralast both were the same.
