Default Hesitation on acceleration

I don't know what category to start this thread on and I have looked through everyone's else's threads to trouble shoot my issue. I have a heads cam 98 trans am M6, about 2-3 months ago my car started stumbling or hesitating when I'm on the gas in all the gears. it starts around 2K rpm and I feel the car shaky and down on power as I accelerate. The exhaust note is different too when it does it. its got 4.10s so I know I should be covering more in the rpm range quicker but its got like a dead area that it won't get out of. it used to snap out of it if I slightly backed off the gas pedal but not its more consistently struggling. I haven't tried going WOT as I fear it'll break something. Idle is lumpy like you'd expect from a cam but sound sometimes changes out to like an old truck

Ive already tried swapping out spark plugs (TR55) still does it, swapped fuel filter, still does it. swapped new MAF and air filter, still does it. brand new o2 sensors, still there. I haven't really inspected the plug wires or coils yet and I have a racetronix fuel pump that that I installed in 2014. I plan on taking it to a tuner next week to see if they can scan anything wrong with it. don't wanna any more money at it for now. Anything else I should inspect?

If no codes are present, I would suspect it being fuel related, either a pressure issue, or possibly injector related. Have the tuner log fuel pressure during a pull if possible. How did the old plugs look?
I’m going to park this in Gen3 external for now.

i forgot to mention no codes(SES) showed up. And the spark plugs were changed 2 months ago, old ones looked burned in the top threads. It’s got FIC 80# injectors in it recommended by my last tuner.

Agree its probably fuel related. Never overlook an old nemesis for fuel: Water!! I got some in my C5 a year ago, and the car ran like junk. A bottle of Dry Gas fixed it with no wrenches. Worth a try for $3 or $4 bucks.....

Why do plugs and not wires? I've got a set of shorty headers and burn my #6 wire every now and then. I had a similar stumble, swapped pugs AND wires and that took care of it. I wasn't throwing any codes either, but I sure could feel the stumble...

If you're running a stock fuel pump my money is on that failing. I did heads and cam on my 98 and with the bigger injectors the stock pump was maxed out, it started to fail a few months later. WS6 Store has a drop in unit with upgraded pumps that is a direct fit and plug in for a 98.

So it looks like I solved my issue. I guess I over looked an obvious problem. I didn't realize one of my plug wires was touching my headers and resulting in the boot melting. I switched it out with oreilly brand and it runs perfect now. I was so focused on the plugs themselves and didnt realize to thoroughly inspect each component carefully. it was the driver side second plug wire that was the culprit.

Good to hear! Due to my header design, I burn #6 regularly, so I even keep a spare plug wire in my glovebox. Glad it was an easy fix!
