Default Intake options

looking for intake recommendations, current is an ls6. Motor is an LS1 off getting rebuilt into a fully forged 383, already have PRC 225 heads, TSP BFD cam, Terminator X max, 4l60 car with 3.23 gears. planning on spraying occasionally and was also thinking about switching to BTRs 400+ nitrous cam.

TSP BFD 233/240 .629/.600 108 LSA 106 ICL
So it has +2 advance putting the intake valve close at 42.5? All the 4 inch stroke LS's I'm familiar with like 47 to 52 intake valve close. Doesn't seem a good match for a 383 stroker to me. ~20 degrees of overlap, I bet it does chop. TSP doesn't list the cam as recommended for stroker applications just 5.7's and 6.0's. I consider a different cam for your 383 LS. Maybe others will comment.

What stall are you running or plan to run with the new 383 LS?

BTR CAMSHAFT - 400 CI+ - NITROUS
Specs: 251/266 .62X"/.595" 112+4

That's an amazing cam based on what's on the BTR website. I'd want match it to the 400+ cubic inch engine, TFS cathedral port heads and Mast intake, it was developed and optimized to use. With ~34 degrees of overlap seems like a very serious 😳 big cam for racing 🏁. I'd ask BTR what stall and gears they recommend.

Cammotion stroker-ls-camshafts has a lot of possibilities. May be ask Cammotion to help with cam selection. This might be in the ballpark...sort of inbetween the TSP & BTR cams mentioned.

Street King Stroker LS Camshaft (244/256-112+4)

As for intakes, either a ported Fast 102 or ported MSD. If spinning 7,000+ rpms the MSD, otherwise probably the Fast 102.

Currently running a Yank 3800 power added series converter with factory 3.23 rear gears. I’m definitely not advert to changing cams but not sure if I want to bother as this isn’t my straight up track/drag car but rather one I roll around to shows and occasionally drag on and off the strip

EDIT: having a less then optimal setup isn’t going to break my heart with this car. I’m building an LS powered fox that will be more track focused then street and show

Both sound like sweet cars!

With the LS Fox in the works for the track, definitely can see keeping the TSP BFD cam.

Off topic but what's going in the LS Fox?
