5.3 dual exhaust design???
I have a few design questions regarding my exhaust I want.
Goal is to have the best of both worlds, Great flow for power gains, but quiet as possible. More quiet is my mail goal.
So far my plan is too use walker quiet flow 2 1/2" mufflers along with glasspack resonators before muffler. My plan is to install mufflers right before axle, and have the resonators maybe an 1ft ahead of the mufflers. For now, I'm going to use turn down exhaust tips to dump exhaust right at the axle, if the sound is crazy, then I'll have the local exhaust shop install tail pipes that go over axle and down out the back. But I'm thinking quiet flows with resonators should be an healthy medium to my goal.
Has anyone done an dual exhaust system with mufflers and resonators before muffler to reduce drone/sound? My main concern is the distance between the resonator and muffler, is there an general rule on distance? and also distance between exhaust manifolds and resonator/mufflers?
Let me know if this question is best used on a different topic section on the forum.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm specifically looking at WALKER 21856. It might be the ticket. I found that muffler when I had the idea of shopping mufflers for big block cadillacs. If it works for a big block and is quiet enough to luxury driving, then that muffler should be great.
Borla, Magnaflow, or Dynomax Turbo mufflers. The Walker Quiet Flows neck down internally to 1.75" (see Amazon reviews with pictures). They may be for large displacement stock Caddy's, but those are low rpm engines.
